Noel Quinn is a British banking executive and the Group Chief Executive Officer of HSBC. Quinn began his career at HSBC in 1987, ascending through various roles within the bank. He was first appointed as interim CEO in 2019 and took permanent leadership of the bank in 2020. Under his leadership, HSBC achieved record profits and the strongest returns in more than a decade. He played a crucial role in navigating challenges during and after the coronavirus pandemic, as well as heightened geopolitical tensions that weighed on the bank’s key market, China. He also led  a series of strategic reviews that culminated in a plan to boost the bank’s investment in its Asian business, while cutting back in developed Western markets such as the US and France. Quinn stepped down after five years in charge of Europe’s largest bank. He will remain CEO until his successor starts in the role.
