Urban Carmel is Co-founder of The Lewis Carmel Group, a strategy management consulting firm that helps companies commercialize new technologies, especially in the healthcare industry. He is also the Founder and Investment Strategy Analyst at The Fat Pitch, a widely syndicated finance and economics publication. Previously, Urban was a Senior Consultant with McKinsey & Company in the US, Australia and Europe before moving to Hong Kong and then Indonesia to become the President of the Union Bank of Switzerland. He was Country Chief Executive for UBS, one of the world’s largest banks, where he was responsible for a team of investment analysts, sales and trading operations and new capital market activities. Additionally, Urban is a Council Member of Mill Valley since 2020.

MILL VALLEY COUNCIL

  • Urban Carmel was elected to a 4-year term on the City Council in March 2020. 

  • Prior to his term on the Council, he spent almost four years on the City's Planning Commission, serving as Chair in 2019.

  • In 2009, Urban restarted the dormant Mill Valley Library Foundation, served two terms as its President and helped create a multi-million dollar endowment.

  • He served on the Old Mill and Middle School Site Council for six years, including a term as President
