Troy Thornton is Managing Director and Head of Americas Retail Client Business at Goldman Sachs. He is responsible for overseeing the retail distribution efforts in the Americas for the firm's Asset Management Division. He also oversees broker-dealer sales efforts, including teams of divisional sales managers, wholesalers and key accounts in the Investment Consulting Group as well as wholesales on Insurance, Independent, Regional and Bank broker dealer sales teams. Prior to his current roles, he held various management positions in US Third Party Distribution and US Institutional Distribution, including co-head of the Public Funds Group and head of Registered Investment Advisor Distribution. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he spent five years in asset management distribution for Bankers Trust and Federated Investors, now Federated Hermes.

GOLDMAN SACHS

  • He served as Goldman Sachs’ Co-Head of Platform Development, where he oversaw the sales effort of all packaged products to home office research groups as well as placement on recommended lists of home office models.

  • He also served as Managing Director of Institutional Sales, responsible for the distribution of the GSAM suite of products and services through large public pension funds in the Northeastern and Midwestern U.S.

  • Before that, he served as Vice President and Eastern Divisional Sales Manager, and Head of RIA Sales.

  • He was an Associate Vice President for Bankers Trust and a Marketing Representative with Federated Hermes.

  • In 2020, he was awarded with the Money Management Institute Leadership Award.

  • At MMI, he is instrumental in the launch of MMI's Social Justice Initiative Impacting Change, a project addressing social challenges with financial education, talent development and workplace culture.
