Academic History

  • Tariq started working, investing, and made his first real money in Silicon Valley in the late 1990s. 
  • He traded Société Générale's first Thai Baht denominated credit-linked note.
  • He traded CIBC's first Canadian dollar interest-rate linked EMTN in Asia since 1998.
  • At Microsoft, he developed a real-time algorithm for calculating tiered pricing of web conferences with large numbers of users and awarded a patent with Bob Anderson.
  • He traveled to over 80 countries, including 23 emerging market countries, and visited on a continuous train tour from Turkey to Singapore in 2009.
  • He is one of the few Hong Kong-based specialists in US-tax deferred savings and investment accounts, including IRA, 401(k), 529, and HSA accounts.
  • He lectures on Fixed Income and Alternative Investments at ESSEC Business School in Singapore
  • He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
