Liz Ann Sonders is a Chief Investment Strategist at Charles Schwab. In her role, she is responsible for a range of investment strategies, including market and economic analysis, investor education, and asset allocation recommendations, all of which are focused on the individual investor. Her examination and interpretation of the economy and markets are communicated to clients through written reports, audio and video recordings, conference calls, and webcasts. Today, Sonders is recognized as one of the leading women on Wall Street.

Academic History

EARLY CAREER

  • Sonders got involved in the markets after she graduated from college in 1986. 
  • She found work as an Assistant Portfolio Manager at Avatar Associates, a money management firm where she learned the intricacies of energy and other sectors. She eventually joined the firm's management committee and co-chaired its stock selection committee. 
  • She moved to U.S. Trust in 1999, a financial institution that was later acquired by Schwab.
