James Dondero is the Founder and Principal of NexPoint, a multi-billion dollar alternative investment platform headquartered in Dallas, Texas. He is also the Chairman and Majority Owner of NexBank, a financial services company that delivers institutional, commercial and mortgage banking services. With over 30 years of industry experience, Dondero has become a prominent businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist investing across the alternative landscape including real estate, structured credit, and private equity. Prior to launching NexPoint, he was the Co-Founder of Highland Capital Management, a leading alternative investment platform. EARLY CAREER
Dondero has built numerous businesses operating within the NexPoint network, managing investments in real estate, private equity, high-yield and structured credit.
He began his career at JP Morgan Chase as an analyst in 1984, when he was accepted into the Morgan Guaranty training program.
He later joined American Express as a corporate bond analyst and portfolio manager.
He also earned the designations of Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA), and Chartered Financial Analyst.
