Nelson Reyneri is the Director of Strategic Alliances and Policy at NRG Energy, a leading integrated power company delivering innovative, customer-focused energy solutions. With over 30 years of leadership experience, Nelson has held senior roles across the energy sector, federal government, and the U.S. Senate. Prior to joining NRG, he served as Senior Vice President for Sales and External Affairs at Liberty Power, where he scaled the company from a startup into one of the largest minority-owned energy providers in the United States. He also served as Principal at Point B within their Environmental, Social, and Governance practice, leading client engagements and mentoring teams on ESG strategy across diverse markets. Nelson is a recognized thought leader in energy, sustainability, and policy, frequently contributing to CNBC on topics including energy markets, government policy, and diversity and inclusion.

During his tenure at Liberty Power, Nelson Reyneri held multiple leadership positions, most recently serving as Senior Vice President for Sales and External Affairs.
In this role, he led the development of structured energy and sustainability solutions for corporate clients.
As Head of the Mass Market division, he oversaw sales, marketing, and quality assurance strategies, driving measurable business growth.
Nelson also launched Liberty Power’s Bright Horizon Scholarship Program, a five-year partnership with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) that awarded $100,000 in scholarships to college students from diverse backgrounds pursuing careers in energy and environmental fields.
Under his leadership, Liberty Power expanded its client base from fewer than a dozen Fortune 500 companies to more than 100 over a decade.
EARLY CAREER
Prior to joining NRG Energy, Nelson held multimillion-dollar P&L responsibilities encompassing sales and marketing, strategic planning, regulatory affairs, and corporate communications.
He brings extensive political and public policy experience, having served as a Presidential appointee in the Clinton Administration, including roles as Special Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff at a federal agency.
In the 2004 election cycle, he led the Democratic Party’s outreach to the Hispanic community and previously served as Senior Advisor to U.S. Senator John Kerry.
In 2016, he was nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
