Mark Carhart is the Chief Investment Officer of Kepos Capital, a registered investment adviser he established in 2010. Prior to this, he served as a Partner and the Co-Chief Investment Officer of the Quantitative Investment Strategies Group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. He was also an Assistant Professor at the Marshall School of Business at USC and a Senior Fellow at The Financial Institutions Center at The Wharton School. Before this, Carhart was a consultant for Dimensional Fund Advisors and Mercer Global Advisors.

His publications include articles in The Journal of Finance, The Review of Financial Studies, and the Financial Analysts Journal.

He is also a co-author of Modern Investment Management: An Equilibrium Approach. 

He received the FAJ's Graham and Dodd Award in 2014.

He became a CFA Charterholder in 1991.
