Brett Tejpaul is Head of Coinbase Institutional, a division of Coinbase tailored for managing Web3 and digital assets. He is responsible for expanding Coinbase’s institutional client base, introducing new features and services that institutional investors expect, and continuing to educate the institutional community about crypto. Tejpaul is an experienced business leader and innovator with nearly three decades of experience in financial services, accelerating revenue growth with institutional clients and mobilizing fintech companies. Prior to joining Coinbase, he spent nearly 17 years in global leadership positions in both the U.S. and the UK at Barclays Investment Bank. In addition to his product focused leadership roles, he also led client strategy and pioneered Barclays’ first “Head of Digital” role, which included managing Barclays’ fintech venture investments. He also held leadership roles in sales, trading, and structuring at JP Morgan, innovating the firm’s credit derivatives platforms.

  • Tejpaul drives Coinbase's Institutional Sales and Prime Services, which includes digital asset custody, institutional-grade trading platform and industry research.

  • He leads the team in helping institutions build connections between Finance 1.0 and the crypto economy.

  • He also leads the the teams in New York, San Francisco, the UK and Asia, working to expand Coinbase's institutional client base, build out its coverage team, introduce new features and services, and educate the institutional community about crypto.

  • Under his leadership, the team has emerged as a market leader in delivering crypto solutions to global financial services companies.


BARCLAYS INVESTMENT BANK

  • During his tenure at Barclays, Tejpaul held a range of roles including Global Head of Sales (across all of Fixed Income and Equities) and Global Head of Credit and Commodities, along with serving on the Market Executive Committee, a five-person team responsible for managing the entirety of Barclays’ Markets businesses.

  • He led the adoption of new technologies and the transformation of existing platforms, including the creation of a digital bank prototype.

  • He managed an institutional salesforce for approximately 2,000 people, which generated ~$8 billion in client revenue.

  • He engaged with top institutional clients, increasing revenue and improving returns. He also built a market-leading credit business.
