Barry Rosenstein is the Founder and Executive Chairman of JANA Partners, a veteran activist investment firm based in New York City. He leads JANA in leveraging shareholder engagement with the goal of creating substantial value for both investors and stakeholders. Rosenstein is a prominent investor and one of the most prolific portfolio managers in the industry. He became popular for pushing Whole Foods to accept the acquisition offer from the world’s largest e-commerce giant Amazon. Prior to launching JANA, he was the Founder and Managing Partner of Sagaponack Partners, a private equity fund.

Under his leadership, JANA had been a successful activist in numerous companies including Apple, Tiffany's, Whole Foods, ConAgra, PetSmart, Walgreens Boots Alliance, Safeway, Ashland, Marathon Petroleum, McGraw Hill, CNET, and Kerr-McGee.
He has served as a Director on multiple boards including Cobra Electronics Corp., Copart, Convergys Corporation, and Walgreens Boots Alliance.

EARLY CAREER
Rosenstein began his career as an Investment Banker specializing in mergers and acquisitions with Merrill Lynch in New York.
He was instrumental in the initial funding of Copart, the world's largest auto salvage company.
He was a Principal responsible for the corporate takeover for Asher Edelman’s Plaza Securities Corporation.
