Austin Root is Chief Investment Officer of Stansberry Asset Management, a highly reputable investment advisory firm. As CIO, he is responsible for the development and management of investment strategies across all SAM portfolios. Prior to joining SAM, he was the Director of Research at Stansberry Research and the Portfolio Manager for the company's flagship portfolio products, Stansberry Portfolio Solutions. Austin has had a decorated career on Wall Street working for firms like SAC Capital Advisors, The Blackstone Group and North Oak Capital which received a strategic investment from famed hedge fund manager Julian Robertson and Tiger Global Management. He has experience investing across asset classes, including public equities, derivatives, venture capital, private equity, real estate, and fixed income securities.

EARLY CAREER
Prior to joining Stansberry Research, Austin was a Partner and Portfolio Manager at D.F. Dent & Co., a Baltimore-based investment adviser focused on owning high-quality growth companies.
He was Managing Partner of North Oak, an investment management firm with strategic investments from Tiger Global Management.
Under his leadership, North Oak produced strong investment returns over the life of the firm, generating positive returns each year and for every investor, exceeding hedge-fund benchmarks.
He was a Portfolio Manager at SAC Capital, and an Associate at Soros Private Equity partners.
He started his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at The Blackstone Group.
