Lucas Downey is the Co-Founder of Mapsignals, which focuses on uncovering outlier stocks by following the big money. As a former institutional sales trader on Wall Street, he understands the significance of large institutional trades in uncovering the leading stocks of tomorrow. He spent years observing institutional trading activities and their effects on the movements of stocks. In his free time, Downey designs quantitative models to look for unusual trading activity. He recently developed two options courses with Investopedia Academy.

Academic History

  • Downey performed his first investing exercise as a teenager. 
  • After a brief stint at a day-trading firm, he landed a job on an institutional trading desk handling large orders of stock and derivatives. 
  • While at Cantor Fitzgerald, he began to notice the importance that institutional trading activity had on the movements and direction of stocks. 
  • While at Jefferies, he published stock research based on the unusual activity signals he was developing. 
  • He is the Founder and Editor of Personal Finance Kid Blog, a Blog focusing on the building blocks of Personal Finance for young people.
