Javier Blas is a London-based Bloomberg Opinion Columnist covering energy and commodities. Prior to his current role, he served as Chief Energy Correspondent at Bloomberg News, specializing in big oil, the geopolitics of energy and food, and the business model of the commodities trading houses. With over 15 years of experience in internal economics, oil and commodities, Blas has assembled and managed teams across different continents, and built a track record of best-in -class reporting and news editing. Previously, he served as the Commodities Editor for the Financial Times, where he led a team of reporters based in London, Beijing, and New York, covering oil, metals and agricultural commodities markets, trading houses, and the geopolitics of natural resources.
