Conor Murray is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OpenInvest, the world's first ESG-focused online investment advisor. With over 10 years in the financial technology sector, his experience ranges from investment banking at Morgan Stanley to leading teams of engineers at Bridgewater Associates. In these previous roles, Murray was responsible for overseeing the technology that optimized investments across all the firm’s funds and dozens of separately managed accounts totaling more than $150 billion.

Academic History

  • Murray was originally from Ireland.
  • He moved to the United States to study Mathematics and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • After college, he worked as an Analyst in the Financial Sponsors M&A Group at JP Morgan.
  • His responsibility at Bridgewater Associates include:
    • design and implementation of proprietary risk control, portfolio construction, and trading algorithms;
    • building and leading teams of developers;
    • shaping long term direction;
    • overhaul of legacy systems to next-generation analytics; and
    • execution platform.
  • After Bridgewater, he relocated to San Francisco to meet up with an old Bridgewater colleague, Phillip Wei, and work on building OpenInvest together.
