Arthur Samberg served as the Chairman and CEO of Pequot Capital Management. He was a pioneer in investment management and had a 40-year career as a notable investor. Samberg owed his success to taking decent expertise in technology and combining it with finance. With this, he aims to solve the world’s problems and getting rich while doing it. Samberg was also a major donor to philanthropic causes and served on numerous philanthropic boards.

  • For five years, he served as Chairman of the MIT Investment Management Company.
    • His time atop the hedge fund world didn't last long.
    • By May 2009, he told investors he planned to liquidate his main hedge funds after an insider-trading investigation "cast a cloud" over the firm.
    • A year later, Pequot and Samberg agreed to pay almost $28 million to settle regulatory claims they illegally tapped information from a Microsoft employee to bet on the software maker's stock in 2001.
    • They didn't admit or deny wrongdoing when agreeing to settle.
  • He met fellow investors Leon Cooperman and Mario Gabelli while attending Columbia.
