David Harrell
David Harrell is an Editorial Director for Morningstar Investment Management, a leading provider of independent investment research in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. He is Editor of the monthly newsletters, Morningstar StockInvestor and Morningstar DividendInvestor, a premier resource for dividend investors seeking to build a robust, income-generating portfolio. Throughout his career at Morningstar, Harrell has invented and implemented new ways to better communicate complex investment ideas and data. He was part of the three-person editorial team that launched Morningstar.com and was co-inventor of Morningstar's first investment advice software. He is also a member of the Editorial Board for Morningstar Magazine and contributes a data visualization feature to each issue.

Harrell communicates with thousands of investors via the two equity newsletters, Morningstar StockInvestor and Morningstar DividendInvestor, as well as his popular "3D Dividend Stocks" video series for Morningstar.
Some of his key contributions include Morningstar Style Universe, a 3D display of style-based investment performance; ClearFuture, Morningstar's first investment advice software; the Portfolio Stack, a new way to analyze investment portfolios; and the Performance Clock, a visualization that allows for easy comparisons of monthly performance.
He served as a Senior Product Manager for Morningstar's research integration team, focused on adding the firm's new research IP to its products and software.
He was also a member of the Editorial Board for Morningstar Magazine and contributed a data visualization feature to each issue.
Earlier in his career at Morningstar, he served as the firm's mutual fund analyst and editorial director. He also co-invented Morningstar's first online investment advice program for retirement plan participants.
