Situated near the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the University of North Carolina, Asheville is the only dedicated liberal arts institution in the state’s public university system. It offers more than 30 undergraduate majors as well as a masters degree in liberal arts and sciences, with the most popular areas of study in psychology, business, natural resources and conservation, communication and health professions. Undergraduates can lead their own research projects with guidance from faculty, and UNC Asheville founded the National Conference on Undergraduate Research 32 years ago.
