Waltham has a rich cultural history that is evident in the city's number of world class museums, monuments, and art galleries. It is home to great parks, restaurants, renowned learning institutions, theaters, and a lot more. Also known as the Watch City, Waltham has been associated with the industry since the early 1850s. The Waltham Watch Company opened a factory in town and it was the first company to make watches on an assembly line. The said company produced more than 35 million watches and other instruments before it ceased operations in 1957.
