Financial Asset

A financial asset is a liquid asset that derives its value from a contractual right or ownership claim from an entity. It does not necessarily have inherent physical worth or a physical form. Rather, its value reflects factors of supply and demand in the marketplace in which they trade, along with the degree of risk they carry.
