Credit Linked Note

Abbreviation
CLN
A Credit Linked Note functions in the same manner as a bond, such that payments are made semi-annually, but with an embedded credit default swap. Since CLNs are backed by specified loans, there is an intrinsic risk of default linked with the security. To create a CLN, a loan must be issued to a customer.
