The OTC Bulletin Board was a regulated electronic quotation service provided by FINRA. It offered up-to-minute quotes, last-sale prices, and volume information for many OTC equity securities that are not listed on a national securities exchange. In 2020, FINRA decided to wind down the OTCBB services, as the platforms provided by OTC Markets Group had taken the lion's share of U.S. OTC stock trading and data. In 2021, FINRA ceased operations of the OTCBB.

OTCBB

  • Only broker-dealers qualified with FINRA as market makers were eligible to apply to quote securities on the OTCBB.

  • Under the OTCBB's eligibility rule, companies that want to have their securities quoted on the OTCBB must seek the sponsorship of a market maker.

  • Companies should also ile current financial reports with the SEC or with their banking or insurance regulator.
