Ken Tropin is the Founder and Chairman of Graham Capital Management, one of the largest commodity trading advisors in the United States. He developed most of the firm’s core trading programs and is responsible for managing the strategic investment of the firm's proprietary capital. Tropin is best known for being one of the first to develop a guaranteed fund, in which investors were guaranteed the return of their entire investment after a certain period. This concept proved to be highly popular and is widely used today in the form of both guaranteed funds and structured notes.

Academic History

  • Tropin began his career as a financial consultant at Shearson in 1980. 
  • He is currently the Chairman of GCM's Executive and Investment Committees and a Member of its Risk Committee
  • He has served as Chairman of the Managed Funds Association and its predecessor organization, which he was instrumental in founding during the early 1980s.  
  • He was inducted into the Futures Hall of Fame in 2005.
