Rapid Devaluations occur when a country manipulates its currency to rapidly fall compared to another countries.

  • Large devaluations can cause shocks in the system (and often impact stock markets)
  • Examples:
    • China rapidly devalued Yuan in Aug 2015 and Dec 2015 - US stock markets fell sharply
