The Borrowing Committee is an advisory committee comprised of executives from investment funds and banks. It is administered by federal statute and has the function to present their reviews to the Department of Treasury regarding the overall strength of the U.S. economy.

  • Presents quarterly recommendations to help address the governments financing needs
  • Predicts treasury borrowing needs over the next 10 years
  • Predicts who will buy those treasuries (domestic, foreign, etc).
  • Suggests things such as:
    • Who to target when selling treasuries too
    • What types of debt to issue (fixed, floating, zero coupon, perpetual, etc..)
