A shopping center dedicated to discount outlets for brand name manufacturers, outlet malls are most often located in rural areas or tourist locations. It is a large group of stores, usually outside a town or a city, that each sell clothes, goods, etc. made by a particular company, for a reduced price.

  • Outlet malls are often found on the outskirts of large cities or in small tows (where real estate is cheap)
  • Common areas are usually outdoors - reducing operating costs
  • Are cheaper to build and operate than classic indoor-malls
  • Often appeal to tourists who drive to them for a longer shopping experience
  • Outlet mall stores often offer deals and reduced prices vs. their standard storefronts 
    • Outlet mall stores are often used by retailer to sell excess inventory, odd lots and/or out-of season items
